# Shimga (शिमगा)

> Shimga is a small Konkan food brand from Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India. We sell jackfruit chips fried in coconut oil, Ratnagiri Hapus (Alphonso) mangoes, amsul (dried kokum) and cashews, all from the trees around our family home (wadi). Everything is sold by pre-order for the season and ordered on WhatsApp.

Raw jackfruit from our own trees in Ratnagiri, cut by hand, fried in coconut oil and salted in the kadhai the way Konkan homes do it. Three ingredients: raw jackfruit, coconut oil, salt. No preservatives and no palm oil. Sealed the same day in a foil-lined zip pouch.

### Ratnagiri Hapus (Alphonso) Mangoes · हापूस

Ratnagiri Hapus (Alphonso) mangoes from the trees in our own orchard. Picked mature, ripened at home in hay, then packed by hand in straw in a ventilated box.

### Amsul (Dried Kokum) · आमसूल (कोकम)

Amsul, also called dried kokum, from the kokum trees in our wadi. The rinds are soaked in their own juice and dried in the summer sun. Used for aamti, fish curry and solkadhi. Packed in a resealable pouch.

### Cashew Nuts, Peeled and With Skin · काजू

Cashews (kaju) from the trees in our wadi in Ratnagiri, sold peeled or with the thin brown skin left on (salisakat kaju). Packed in a resealable pouch.

Orders of ₹999 or more ship free. Chips, amsul and cashews go anywhere in India by courier; for mangoes, check your PIN code with us first. Shipping is plastic-free: cardboard boxes, paper tape and straw.

## About

Shimga is the Konkan spring festival, when people who work in the cities come home to their villages. Made by Shree Kanakaditya Gruh Udyog, Ratnagiri, named after our family deity at Kasheli.

## Questions

**Why do I have to wait for the season?**
Everything comes from our own trees, so it is ready only when they are. Pre-ordering tells us how much to make, so nothing sits on a shelf.

**How do the mangoes travel?**
Packed in straw in a ventilated box and sent by courier. Before you pay, we confirm on WhatsApp that we can reach your PIN code.

**What is in the chips?**
Raw jackfruit, coconut oil and salt. No preservatives are added, and we do not use palm oil.

**Where do you deliver?**
Chips, amsul and cashews go anywhere in India by courier. For mangoes, message us your PIN code first.

**Can I order for a shop, café or office gifting?**
Yes. Send the gifting and bulk orders form, or message us on WhatsApp with the quantity, and we will send prices.
